Huzzah!

A few weekends ago the Mr. and I attended the Santa Fe Renaissance Fair.  We couldn't go with out an entourage so my Mom and my friend Kate joined us.  My poor hubby was stuck with three loud, opinionated women...oy vey!  He coped by eating something from every food vendor there!  While he was busy eating we were watching...

...Belly dancers from Pomegranate Studios

...Roark Barron perform on his Electric Harp

...and enjoying the scenery at El Rancho de las Golondrinas

Me and Kate (I'm on the left.)
...Oh and did I mention we like to attend properly attired.

We had a great time and can't wait for next year!  Well maybe the Mr. can!

Huzzah!!!

Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival

This weekend was the annual Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival.  My friend Kate has two Scotty dogs that were part of the Celtic Dog Exhibit, which got us both in for FREE!  We had a great time talking with everyone, untangling dog leashes, and getting rather sunburnt!

Kegan!
This is one of Kate's Scotties. His name is Kegan and he is a total goofball. Ula was too camera shy.

New Celtic Ring
I got a fantastic deal on this Blue Topaz Celtic Ring. Kate bought an Amethyst Celtic Ring which is very similar. I call them our "Wonder Twins Rings".  (Can you tell I live in the desert.  I had just put on hand lotion before taking this photo.  I guess it didn't last.  YIKES!)

As you can see we had great time.  What did you do this weekend?

Fancy Shmancy

This past weekend was the 19th Annual Chocolate Fantasy fundraiser for the New Mexico Natural History Museum.  This is a fantastic event with wonderful chocolate sculptures, bon-bons galore, dinner and dancing.  I love attending this event because it is the only time I get to dress all 'fancy shmancy' as my husband calls it.  I usually buy a new dress and some wonderful high heels.  Unfortunately we were unable to attend this year.  But I thought I would share a photo from last years event because it was just too fun to keep to myself.

The way back to fun...

I feel that we put enormous pressure on our selves to be productive and busy every minute of every day. Aren't you exhausted! I think we all are. While there is nothing wrong with putting one's nose to the grind stone, we must balance all that work with relaxation and fun. Remember fun? No! It has indeed been too long then. Finding our way back to fun can seem daunting. But start with small steps. I remind my self to laugh loudly if something is funny, even at work. Your laughter will not cause your cubicle to go up in flames, I promise. Plus, it might make your co-workers curious and then everyone can be in on the joke. While walking between errands, look up. There is a gorgeous universe creating the most spectacular sights everyday. And lastly just breathe! Sit down for 5 minutes and just breathe, don't do anything else but breathe. Experience the amazing phenomenon that is you. Taking these little moments for yourself will help you be calmer, more relaxed, and more open to joy and fun.
