All Hallows Eve

Happy Samhain!  On this day I honor my ancestors.  I think of all of those who came before me and brightly lit the path I know travel.  Thank you for your hard work, thank you for your sacrifice, thank you for your eternal love, and thank you for always believing in me.  Without you I am nothing!

Happy Mabon

Mabon or the Autumn Equinox occurs on or around September 21, this year it is today.  This is a Festival of the Second Harvest.  A day to count your blessings and gather the harvest for the coming winter.  A day of equal parts light and dark, a day of balance. 

Today is a great day to recognize that without the dark there would be no light.  That darkness lives within us and is not necessarily an evil force, only a different aspect of our true nature.  Strive for a balance!

Blessed Lughnasadh

Let the Chase of Lugh begin!  We will follow him through the three harvest festivals of Lughnasadh, Mabon (Autumn Equinox), and then finally Samhain (Halloween). 

Lughnasadh is the beginning of the grain harvest, and the harvest season in general.  Now is the time to enjoy the fruits of our labor.  We give thanks to the Earth for her bounty and beauty.  We celebrate with feasts and festivals, fire and bread.  We acknowledge the return of the darkness and gather our harvest to see us through the coming winter.

Happy 4th of July!

Today I give you permission to eat way too much homemade ice cream...

 to drip barbeque sauce on your favorite shirt...

Are you ready for the trooping faeries!!  They will be on the move today and through the night, looking for a place to call home for a while.  Entice them to your garden with a bowl of cream or some honey.  Don't forget to spruce up the yard...add ribbons to the trees, a water fountain, twinkle lights, crystals...anything sparkly and fun.  Dance around your garden and rejoice in the abundance of summer!!

There are ribbons in all of my trees, bubbles floating on the breeze, and sweet laughter filling my garden this Midsummer.  I have also been busy in the studio making pendulums charged with the wonderful energy of the Summer Solstice.

Happy Beltane

Wishing you a happy and merry Beltane!

When I was younger, my sister and I would make May Day baskets for our neighbors.  The tradition is to deliver the baskets without being seen.  If you are seen you owe them a kiss as well as the basket.  Every year our neighbors caught us!  I now wonder if my Mom told them we were coming...

Beltane is one of my favorite holidays.  I love the dancing, the may pole, the flowers, the baskets.  I remember vividly celebrating this day as a child with my Mom and Sister, being silly and having fun.
